Low-floor bus and carriage of wheelchairs

Public transport should also be accessible to people with physical impairments. Therefore, our TüBuses are modern low-floor buses with step-free entrances, where even the seats in the front area can be reached without steps.
The buses feature blue-and-white pushbuttons with a wheelchair symbol on the outside by the second door – which is also where the folding ramp is located – and inside the bus in the wheelchair area. When you push the button, our driver receives an optical signal to help you board and leave the bus in your wheelchair.

Mobility project ”MOVE – Mobility unites”

TüBus is a collaboration partner of “MOVE – Mobility unites”, a project of the non-profit association Freundeskreis Mensch e. V. MOVE is aimed at all people with a disability or mental illness in the District of Tübingen. MOVE is dedicated to promoting the independent mobility of these people. The project offers volunteers the opportunity to accompany these people, in exchange for an expense allowance, and practice with them step by step how to travel independently. MOVE is constantly on the lookout for new companions. For further information, please visit www.freundeskreismensch.de.

Symbols on the accessible TüBus

Various symbols on the bus display boards directly after the line number are designed to provide guidance to passengers with reading difficulties. These bus lines stop near recreational and educational facilities of youth welfare as well as counselling and support organisations.

Carriage of mobility scooters

The following minimum requirements apply to the carriage of mobility scooters with a user:

  • The manufacturer’s operating manual must expressly state that the mobility scooter with a user is approved for carriage in suitable regular buses.
  • The requirements for maximum size and weight, the brake system and the mobility scooter user must be met.

If all other minimum requirements are met, TüBus will issue corresponding permissions for carriage.
